Data visualisations celebrating the cultural heritage of Reading, Berkshire.

Completed: 2022.

Rickards Design was commissioned to produce a bespoke infographic style wallpaper for each of the ‘Huddle’ meeting rooms at Rapid7’s new Reading office, continuing the company’s tradition of producing similar data visualisations celebrating the local area.

Based on the ‘Cultural Heritage’ of Reading - these 9 individual designs were all inspired by either famous Reading icons, events, history or locations, which were put forward and selected by the local staff team’s group of ambassadors. Conducting thorough research about each of the room themes, compiling as much data as possible, in order to produce the most interesting graphic and telling the story of that particular piece of Reading’s history.

The look and feel of the designs followed Rapid7’s existing design language that had been applied in other global office locations, using their brand colours, shapes and typefaces. Each of the wallpaper’s meaning is described through a plaque and legends, enabling the staff team to connect the room’s name to that particular piece of Reading’s cultural heritage.

This was one of the most enjoyable projects to have worked on. Learning about the location that Rickards Design had spent a considerable amount of time in (due to be being responsible for the full interior design of this 22,000 sqft office space) was a fascinating insight into the city’s history and cultural establishment.

"The conference room infographics created for our Reading office were more than I could have asked for!"

" Emma took our obscure themes (room names) and developed them into data visualisations, that were not only gorgeous to view, but also interesting information to learn.”
