Exquisite new London location for Dutch private wealth business.

Rickards Design was proud to work alongside this Dutch private wealth client for 18 months to create this exquisite new workspace for them. Starting the journey at their existing home at the iconic ‘Michelin House’ in Chelsea, various test-fit explorations took place to fully investigate opportunities to remain in this listed building, before the difficult decision to relocate to a newer space that was more suited to their future requirements.
Choosing the Grade II-listed ‘Knightsbridge Gate’ allowed the client to celebrate the existing heritage features behind the Edwardian facade, alongside creating a new modern workplace that reflected their business history, brand identity, and sustainability aspirations.
The concept design needed to align closely to the client’s Amsterdam headquarters aesthetic, whilst adding local inspiration to give a London look and feel. This was achieved by taking inspiration from the building itself and its architectural detailing and finishes. The result is a workspace that feels confident and curated.
While the overall colour palette is consistent with the Dutch HQ, the finishes, furniture, and small touches are tailored to the London location.
The client’s substantial business history is also carefully woven throughout the entire space through the use of graphics, branding and artwork choices, all telling the company’s story. Also a key driver was the inclusion of biophilia throughout the scheme, which has been significantly worked into the design.
Sustainability is a key focus for the client and was demonstrated through the re-use of just over 60% of their existing furniture pieces, helping to reduce waste and extend the lifecycle of quality materials. They also welcomed the introduction of new innovative recycled and circular finishes throughout this fit-out, both to push their sustainable mission but also to give a unique feel to the London design.
